I made this using the most awesome animation software for the Nintendo DS called Animanatee. Between that and Colors! there's no need for games. I think those two combined with the Nintendo DSi XL make for the perfect portable digital sketchbook.

I had an idea for a gag for last month's 11 Second Club competition. I can't do 2D animation to save my life so this is as good as it gets. It ended 52 out of 153 entries on that month. I think it's funny, so if you laugh then my goal has been accomplished. HA!

Adventures in the Financial District. I made this for the 11 Second Club August 2009 challenge. I placed a most awesome 6th place! Unbelievable. Thank you all who voted for my short. Also thanks to all who took the time to leave some feedback. Much appreciated!

The character rig is the Norman rig (By: Leif Jeffers, Morgan Loomis, Peter Starostin, Neal Thibodeaux).

PS - I'm not savvy at the render business... so yeah, no motion blur or cool lighting. Just the basics. (^_^)

Ergonomics 101

I spent a total 9hrs. +/- (spread over 2days) on this "master piece". ~Woot! (^_^) I submitted this for the July 2009 11 Second Club on-line competition. It ended up at 27 out of 62 entries (Thanks to all for the awesome feedback left). I'd say is not too shabby for the time spent on it. So have you ever sat on one of them ball-chairs at the office or at home?

Animatic for the original idea:

These are two versions of the same animation I made for my entry to the June 2009 11 Second Club online competition. The original idea I had was to do the Joker in the Batcave, after a week of work on that I switched to the Hitler in Heaven idea because I thought it fit the sound bite better. I included the animatic as well.

At the end I had to swap Hitler for the Joker and remove my sound bite edits to adhere to the competition rules. Which I think worked OK, but not as well as having Hitler in it. The entry's rank was a tie for the 29th spot out of 137 total. See the story sketches in the sketchbook page of this blog. The 3D mesh is the Norman

*Update July 09, 2009: I made some tweaks and rendered the scene. I'm not lighting savvy, but it beats a playblast. I have to move on to the next thing. Thank you all who provided feedback.

An animatic I made from my storyboards of a Take Down sequence for Lair (Factor 5, LLC) to see the flow of the action. No timing in this, all the panels are evenly spaced. The storyboard (see it in my sketchbook page ) was not finished as the sequence was abandoned for lack of time in the production:

For anyone that played Lair long enough to wonder why the Knight starts on the ground only on two separate occasions. There once was a plan to have the Knight get off the dragon and run around and fight, but due to the production schedule all that got axed. Here is the dismount that never was:

Here's my old reel, mostly work done at LucasArts Entertainment, LLC. Except for the traditional animation clip of a whip-crack... that was from school. Best 2d animation I've done to date... and that is not saying much. HA!

Oh man... I found my college thesis. This was done using Alias Power Animator (known as Maya today). I think at the time this was considered "ok", nowadays this would be considered "craptasstic". HA! You have been warned:
